Design an award for online chess tournaments where the participants do not have the opportunity to receive the prize from the event organizers in person. The award should be easy to transport to the winners.

The studio decided to develop a reward for the winners for their efforts due to the lack of a physical reward for participating in online competitions. While studying various tournament awards and trophies the peculiarities of chess games, the idea was born to create a cup symbolizing the transformation of a pawn into a queen as recognition of growth and achievement of a new milestone. For conveniently delivery to the recipient in a standard postal package, it was necessary to come up with a collapsible design.

The two ideas come in one: the transformation of a pawn into a queen and a demountable construction. After examining the transportation conditions, we realized that the Nagrada should be solid and compact enough; stainless steel matches these requirements well. Steel specialist Grega helped us develop the technology and produce a trial consignment of the awards.

The Nagrada consists of two flat pieces of a pawn and a queen, inserted into each other due to narrow slots that form a single trophy. 3mm thick stainless steel was chosen as the primary material, as it provides the necessary strength, stability, and attractive appearance. Thanks to the smooth transitions and smooth corners, the figurine looks safe and pleasant to hold. If necessary, the cup can be easily customized for the desired style: it can be completely or partially covered with color, graphics, and inscriptions. The award has a significant weight of 570 grams, which allows the recipient to feel its value better; simultaneously, these parameters are great for transporting in a standard A4 courier envelope.

The Nagrada allows experiencing a new. Receiving a physical award in an online tournament creates a sense of personal satisfaction for achieving and enhancing self-esteem. The winner gets the disassembled cup, assembles it on his own without the use of tools. Due to the narrowing of the shape towards the center, the award is comfortable to hold in hands. It can be placed on a shelf or stored compactly folded. The Nagrada has two different images: a pawn and a queen, which allows the owner to choose the preferred front angle on his own.

With a physical reward, the online tournament is no longer ephemeral. The cup becomes an attribute that connects the player at the computer, the organizer, and other participants in the tournament. The winner literally sees and feels the result of his work, which positively affects the psycho-emotional state: pride and self-esteem.
